UNLOST IN CORNWALL
UNLOST in Cornwall is a journey on foot with adventurer and best-selling author Gail Muller to explore the forgotten roots that lie above the soil in the network of trails and footpaths that criss-cross her home county of Cornwall. This film was completed in December 2022 and is due for release in May this year. We will be posting it on all our channels so look out for it. It was an epic film to make and we all learnt things about Cornwall we never knew!
Satya director, Sky, was in Nicaragua for 10 days in February 2023 shooting and directing a film for education platform Lyfta.
Our film, Making Waves: The Mermaids of Popoyo, follows the Sirenetas de Popoyo (@sirenitassurfclub) – a beautiful and vital project that empowers and inspires girls through surfing, swimming and education.
In a male dominated culture typical of Nicaragua, surfing is “not for girls”, Belgium born surf instructor Isabelle and Costa Rican psychologist Catalina, decided to change the all male line up at the surf breaks they found and started a surf club just for the local girls.
Sirenitas de Popoyo was started in 2017 with the goal of using surfing as a tool to build confidence and self-empowerment, and to provide a space for girls to overcome their fears and discover their own strength.
“The initial goal was to get more local Nicaraguan girls in the water; surfing and enjoying the wonders of the ocean, but it transformed into so much more…”
The project needs funds to keep their vital work going. Please check out the project and consider donating- www.sirenetassurfclub/suppport
Lyfta is an education platform that “invites students to experience different cultures and perspectives. It gives them the opportunity to see and connect with positive human stories from around the world…”
A massive thank you to Cultivator, Screen Cornwall and Creative Kernow for all the support received over the past two years. The Screen Growth Fund enabled us to build a mighty slate, we have received vital equipment, business mentorship and re-brand support.
We would also like to thank ERDF funding received through the CLLD Programme for enabling us to take a significant step forward in our growth and development, and to Creative England for business support, coaching and facilitating our rebrand.
This funding and business growth support, received throughout 2022 /23, has been key to supporting our goals of long term sustainability, and Satya films is looking at an exciting 2023 with a fantastic range of projects and collaborations in development or in the pipe line.
we have been so lucky to have such amazing, targeted support and are bigger and bolder for it.
